CBN / PCBN — Cubic Boron Nitride

Second hardest material after diamond. Standard for finishing hardened steels (ISO H) and cast irons (ISO K).

PCBN (polycrystalline cubic boron nitride) withstands temperatures that would destroy diamond (stable in steel above 700°C). Hardness ~4500 HV.

Application in Hanna HR®

Reaming hardened steels 55–70 HRC and cast irons, without the need for subsequent grinding. Suffix: _B.
