PCD — Polycrystalline Diamond
Synthetic substrate based on sintered diamond crystals. The standard for machining aluminum and non-ferrous alloys.
PCD (polycrystalline diamond) is manufactured by HPHT (high pressure, high temperature) from diamond powder and a metallic binder. Hardness ~8000 HV, service life 50–100× that of carbide in aluminum.
Application in Hanna HR®
Reaming aluminum engine blocks, housings, and aerospace components. Cutting speeds above 800 m/min are routine. Suffix: _D.
