In technical English, reamer covers both solid and modular reamers. Subtypes in global use: hand reamer, machine reamer, chucking reamer, shell reamer, replaceable head reamer (interchangeable head), indexable insert reamer.
The Hanna HR® system belongs to the replaceable insert reamer class — only the insert is replaced, the body is reused.
